50 years of LITTLE EDEN Society!
Monday 15 May 2017 marked exactly 50 years since the first three little girls arrived at LITTLE EDEN Society. To celebrate this special day, LITTLE EDEN residents and staff gathered at both Centres (Domitilla & Danny Hyams Home and Elvira Rota Village) for a Birthday Bash with sweets and lots of entertainment for the residents.
The Operations Manager of LITTLE EDEN Society, Mrs Xelda Rohrbeck, said that the work carried out every day at the institute has an immeasurable impact, not only because it provides care and a warm home to the 300 residents but also because of the support given to many families who have children and siblings there. There are 257 individuals employed by the Society. They dedicate themselves everyday to the care of these “angels” and receive an income which benefits them and their families. LITTLE EDEN Society offers everyone involved (staff, volunteers and donors) an opportunity to serve God in a very special way.
LITTLE EDEN cares for 300 residents with profound intellectual disability, the majority of whom were previously abandoned or come from indigent families who are not able to support them financially. Currently, its costs the organisation R11 000 (EUR 800) to care for one resident per month. Therefore, like Mrs Rohrbeck, we ask you to keep supporting the organisation to ensure that LITTLE EDEN Society continues with its mission of love and care towards these “angels”.
